💜Wednesday, April 15th is National "Purple Up For Military Kids Day."💜
Wear purple to support our military-connected students. This is a day that recognizes the strength, resilience, and sacrifices of military kids.
Military-connected kids are typically identified as having a parent/guardian or sibling who is a veteran that has served previously, currently serves on a base, or currently serves in the Army National Guard, Air National Guard and Reserves.
Why purple? The color purple is the chosen color because when you mix the colors of all of the military branches it makes purple. (Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Space Force, and Coast Guard)
According to NCDPI, in the 2024-2025 school year Randolph County School System had 1,006 military-connected students. There are currently between 100,000-110,000 military-connected students in NC schools and over 1.6 million military kids in the USA.
Folks often think that military families just live on or near military bases. However, we are all over the place!!

Due to the forecast of severe weather for tomorrow, all schools in the RCSS will be closed tomorrow, Monday (3/16/26).
Seventh-grade students from all seven Randolph County Middle Schools visited Randolph Community College on Monday, March 9 to explore their course offerings. Students explored welding, automotive, photography, healthcare, and other hands-on stations during their campus tour.
